Connecting Mothers Initiative recently hosted a community clothing swap in San Diego to support local military families, and the response was incredible. Originally planned as a three-hour event, the swap was extended to five hours due to turnout from the community.
The event provided a wide range of clothing for every stage of life, including options for men, women, children, toddlers, babies, and maternity. Families were also able to access shoes, swimwear, and accessories, helping ensure that essentials were available for every season and need.
In total, we were honored to serve over 50 military families, offering not just clothing, but also a sense of connection, support, and community.

Events like these directly support our mission to cultivate emotional, physical, and economic stability by connecting military mothers and caregivers to accessible resources and supportive communities that move with them through every transition. By creating spaces where families can access essential items and build meaningful connections, we are helping close the critical resource awareness gap and ensuring no mother or caregiver has to face the challenges of caregiving alone.
Due to the success of this event, we’re excited to announce that our next clothing swap will take place on Saturday, May 9th on MCAS Miramar. We look forward to continuing to serve and support our community.
